Your First Visit

We want you to feel comfortable from the moment you arrive

We know visiting a new dentist can feel a little uncertain, especially if it’s been a while or you’ve had a difficult experience in the past. From the moment you walk through our doors, our goal is to help you feel relaxed, listened to and genuinely cared for.

We love welcoming new patients and look forward to getting to know you, your smile and what’s important to you. We hope your first visit is the beginning of a long-term relationship built on trust, comfort and personalised care.

Feeling nervous about visiting the dentist?

We understand that visiting the dentist isn’t easy for everyone. Whether you’ve had a difficult experience in the past, feel anxious about treatment or simply haven’t been to the dentist in a while, you’re not alone.

Please let us know how you’re feeling. Our caring team will take the time to listen, explain everything clearly and move at a pace that’s comfortable for you. Our goal is to help you feel relaxed, supported and confident throughout your visit.

You'll leave with a personalised treatment plan

At the end of your appointment, you’ll leave with a personalised treatment plan designed specifically for your smile. We’ll explain any treatment we recommend, how often we believe you should visit for check-ups and cleans, and simple steps you can take to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

We’ll also take the time to answer your questions, explain our recommendations and offer practical advice to help you care for your smile between visits. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions and enjoy long-term oral health with confidence.

Your First Visit: What to Expect

Let's Get to Know You

Every first dental appointment starts with a conversation. We’ll take the time to understand your dental history, discuss any concerns you may have and learn what you’d like to achieve from your smile.

We’ll then complete a thorough examination of your teeth, gums and overall oral health. If needed, we’ll take digital X-rays to give us a complete picture before discussing our findings with you.

Your Check-up & Clean

Whenever possible, we’ll complete a professional scale and clean during your first visit.

If more extensive treatment is needed, we’ll explain why and discuss the best approach before proceeding. Our priority is always providing the right treatment for your individual needs—not rushing through an appointment.

You'll leave with a personalised treatment plan

Before you leave, we’ll explain everything we’ve found, answer your questions and provide a personalised treatment plan designed specifically for your smile. We’ll also recommend when we think you should return for your next check-up and discuss simple ways to keep your teeth healthy between visits.

Before You Arrive

Before your first dental appointment, we’ll ask you to complete a short medical history form, either online or when you arrive at the practice. This gives our team the information we need to provide safe, personalised care and tailor your treatment to your individual needs.

What Should I Bring?

Before your first dental appointment, please bring:

  • Your health fund card (if applicable)
  • A list of any medications you’re taking
  • Any recent dental X-rays or referral letters, if you have them
  • Your completed medical history form, if you haven’t submitted it online

If you have any questions before your appointment, simply give our friendly team a call—we’re always happy to help.

How Long Will My Appointment Take?

Your first dental appointment usually takes around 45–60 minutes, depending on your individual needs.

This gives us plenty of time to get to know you, complete a thorough examination, answer your questions and discuss any treatment recommendations without feeling rushed.
