Implant Dentistry

Dental implants are a long-lasting solution for tooth loss when well planned, placed and cared for correctly.

Traditional treatment for missing teeth replaces them with a dental bridge supported by natural teeth or partial or full denture. While these treatments are still widely used, dental implants are increasingly the preferred treatment choice.

The results can look and feel very natural and can provide important benefits for oral health.

An implant consists of a small post or screw surgically inserted into your jawbone. Once placed, it gradually fuses with the bone during a process called osseointegration, typically over three to six months. Once firmly fused in the bone, we can restore the dental implant with a crown. When multiple implants are placed, these can be restored singly with crowns or using a dental bridge or implant denture (All-on-Four).

What are the Oral Health Benefits of Dental Implants?

When you have a dental implant, it replaces the entire tooth artificially, including the root. Because the tooth root is replaced artificially, the bone surrounding the dental implant post is protected, preventing the resorption that occurs naturally when a tooth is removed. This helps to ensure the jawbone remains healthy and strong. Unlike dentures and tooth-supported dental bridges, dental implants protect remaining teeth, and we do not need to alter the shape of natural teeth to accommodate them.

Who Can Have Dental Implants?

Implant treatment is suitable for most people with good dental and medical health and whose teeth and jaws have finished growing and developing. It can be a particularly good treatment for older people who have grown tired of wearing dentures and are looking for a more secure long-term solution.

Jetty Road Dental Clinic plans and places dental implants using image-guided surgery, a treatment option utilising CAD/CAM technology, providing reliable and predictable results and ensuring treatment is as smooth and comfortable as possible for our patients.
