Veneers

Veneers are a versatile treatment that can help to perfect a smile.

They consist of a thin veneer or layer of material that fits over the front surface of a tooth, covering any imperfections.

When to Consider Veneers?

You may want to consider veneers if you have teeth that are worn or too short or which aren’t quite the right shape. Veneers can hide any small chips or cracks in teeth and can help to reduce or close unsightly spaces between teeth. In addition, if you have just one or two teeth out of alignment, veneers can help to realign them and may be a preferable choice to adult orthodontics.

Jetty Road Dental Clinic offers two types of veneers as you can choose composite resin veneers or veneers made entirely from porcelain. Each works a little differently, and when you visit our dental clinic, we can discuss both options in more detail, enabling you to decide which will provide the results you desire.

Composite Resin Veneers

These veneers are made from the same material used to create tooth-coloured fillings and which is durable and relatively hard-wearing. They are made inside the mouth as composite resin is applied directly to the tooth surfaces before being hardened, shaped and polished.

When to Choose Composite Resin Veneers?

Treatment is quick and may be completed in a single appointment. Composite resin veneers are a good option if you are looking for a cost-effective way to improve the appearance of your teeth and perhaps only need minor modifications to help improve your smile. These veneers should last several years before they need replacing.

Porcelain Veneers

A porcelain veneer is a very thin shell of porcelain custom-made to fit over the front surface of a tooth. Treatment requires at least two visits to our dental clinic. We prepare your teeth for veneers during the first visit, removing a small amount of enamel before taking a detailed dental impression. Our dental lab then creates the veneer to our specifications, and while it is being made, we can fit temporary veneers to protect your teeth. When you return to our dental clinic, your new veneers are bonded onto the teeth.

When to Choose Porcelain Veneers?

Although a porcelain veneer costs a bit more, it will last longer and remain the same colour throughout its life. This is because the porcelain used to create the veneers is strong, durable and very life-like.

Caring for Your Veneers

Veneers are very easy to care for as you can brush and floss them normally. A good oral care routine combined with regular dental checkups and cleanings will help your veneers last longer.
